It's been a couple days since the Ravens lost a close one to the Kansas City Chiefs. It doesn't feel any better today then it did Thursday night. Ultimately I think there are a lot of reason's why they Ravens lost. Below I am going to grade how i think each postion/player/coach performed this past Thursday. I haven't rewatched the game so I am basing everything off of first impression's.

HC John Harbaugh : C

I see a lot of Ravens fan's calling for his head but I think its an overreaction. I know that calling 2 early timeout's in the second half was a huge contributing factor. Ultimately he put us in a position to a toe from winning or at least tying. Let's see how the rest of the year goes but I believe that turning around using those timeouts can be the difference.

OC Todd Monken : D

Look at Derrick Henry's usage after the first drive. That's a huge reason for this grade. the Raven's make a lot of free agent moves. When they do, they need to be used. Monken didn't utilize Henry at all. I am very critical of Ravens OC's so we will see how this grade goes throughout the year.

DC Zach Orr : B

I loved his defense. I think playing as well as they did with some of the situations they were put into shows a lot. I think he called a good mix of blitz's and utilized the pass rushers they have. Now i don't know for sure if the timeouts that john called were players or coaches or what. That's why i can't give him a A.

QB Lamar Jackson : B

Look we know that Lamar struggles with the deep bomb. Lets just get that out of the way now. As a runner Lamar was a stud, as a passer, he struggled mightily! He missed some open receivers especially towards the end of the game. But i won't say his receivers didn't help him out much either. He still gets a little to excited in the pocket still but his line didn't help him a lot in that regard (we will get to that later).

RB Derrick Henry : C

I know he had a touchdown.... But lets be honest. He wasn't used much after that. He had a few runs that reminded me of the King Henry that we were hoping for but he needed more. He needs CARRY'S!!! That's how Henry became King Henry

RB Justice Hill : A

Justice played his Role perfectly. He was a receiving back and picked up blocks when he was told too. I don't see this production continuing but having Henry, Hill and Mitchell, when he comes back, looks good for the Ravens backfield.

WR Zay Flowers : B

Zay played very well. He got open. Sometimes very open. He is quick and agile and Monken has to use him more. His yardage was very low for how many catches he had which is why he is so low.

WR Nelson Algohor : F

He miss a block on 4th down that would have sprung Zay open for a big gain! He was terrible. I have nothing else to say.

WR Rashod Bateman : C

He made a big catch at the end of the game so he did more then Algohor. Hopefully he gets more reps and creates more seperation in the future.

TE Mark Andrews : C

I haven't look at Snap Count or rewatched the game. I don't plan to in the future either unless I am curious. Mark got over shadowed by Likely. Simply as that. Now was that more the Chiefs keying on Mark or Likely continuing his stellar play from last year. I reserve Judgement for the future.

TE Isaiah Likely : A

The only thing stopping this from being a A+ is his big ass feet. I joke but he played extremely well. He got open and made guys miss. He hasn't missed a step since last year.

Tackles Ronnie Stanley & Patrick Mekar i: D

Ugh... I don't know where to start with this paragraph. Stanley play okay when it comes to actually playing but he played terrible when it came to penalty's. (No i won't talk about the refs because you can't control them at all) but you need to be smart enough to learn after one penalty. Not 4. We are playing Ronnie way to much money to be penalized that much. He needs to stay healthy this year to avoid getting cut.

Mekari played decent from what i remember. i feel he could have helped out against Chris Jones but other then that i don't remember too much. He had some penalties as well.

Guards Andrew Vorhees & Daniel Faalele : D

So...... I don't remember being mad at Vorhees so I would say he played decent. It was hard to tell because Faalele played soooooooooo bad. Like i know he transitioning but DAMN dude. He was reaching every play and Jones was just swiping his hands away and chasing Lamar. It was terrible

Center Tyler Linderbaum : B

I love this guy. but its hard to tell if it was design or what but i would have liked to see more help to the guards from Linderbaum but it might not be his fault. Ultimely I look at it as I can remember a bad play so this is what he gets

Overall the offense was average at best Week 1. They played a good defense but they need to get more explosive plays. Too many dink and donk plays and not enough pushing the ball down. Need to get King Henry and Mark Andrews more involved and I thing this offense can be Great this year

Average Grade is a C.

When i grade the Defense its going to more groups of players and i will pin point individuals when i see fit.

Defensive Line : B

I think Over all the Defense line played well. They held Pacheco for the most part in check. They kept pressure on Mahomes and stayed in there lanes. need to play more contain and not let Mahomes get out of the pocket.

Linebackers : B

Ojabo finally got his Sack. Congrats to him. Roquan got a great pick and Oweh always felt like he was dealing pressure. Coverage wise i would say they played average. Let some pick plays to the Tight Ends but did hold Kelce in check as well.

Secondary : C

I don't feel like this is too harsh but it due. Rice was allowed to do whatever he wanted to the Secondary. Worthy was wide open on TD. I'm not going to pin point Marlon on that play because I DON'T KNOW THE CALL. He would have the flat and the safety is supposed to get over. He could be sitting on the route to jump so its hard to tell. Stephens has to step up if he is guarding the number 1 all game. Kyle felt very invisible but that could be them not wanting to target him. Wiggins needs to get more snaps. Lets see what the rookie has.

I love this Defense this year. They played a very good Bend but don't break after the Offense put them in a couple tough situations. I think they need to figure out the Coverage but your not going to cover everybody and that was a hell of an offense they played.

Special Teams : B

Tucker missed another 50+ yarder. Us Ravens fans have to get used to the idea that father time might be catching up to Tucker. He nailed the ones he was supposed to nail but needs to get back to being consistent on the longer ones. Stout played really well. Pinned both punts inside the 20. Coverage might be an issue in the future and KC never gave us a chance to return anything.

Final Team Grade : C

Overall, the team played well. Just not great. When you play the defending Super Bowl Champs, you need to play great to win. We have Raiders next week at home. This is a much win, with having to travel to Dallas the following week. #RavensFlock
